Sleep Soundbath Refuge: An Evening of Stillness + Softness
When the world feels loud, rest becomes a form of resistance.
Refuge was created as a gentle invitation to slow down — a soft landing space for those carrying the weight of long days + restless minds. Held on a seasonal basis, the REFUGE pop up series includes a yin-restorative yoga flow + mindfulness activity in order to create space + stillness in the mind and body. By incorporating a blend of movement + mindfulness, we re-nourish our fundamental need for calm, rest, and relaxation.
Within the tranquil glow of the Budokan, the evening unfolded like a deep exhale. Guests arrived to dim candlelight and the scent of lavender in the air, greeted with a gentle restorative yoga practice designed to soothe the nervous system.
Through slow, supported postures and mindful breathwork, participants eased their bodies into states of release and renewal. The yoga flow was followed by a soothing + meditative yoga nidra. The night closed with a live sound bath — a cocoon facilitated by nature of the gong — allowing each person to drift into that delicate threshold between wakefulness and rest.
More than a class, the event became a sanctuary for restoration — a shared breath of quiet in a world that rarely pauses. The pop up event was hosted in partnership with Terasaki Budokan and Little Tokyo Yoga (Reid Yoshimura)
